Hands On Atlanta Day of Service and Education

On Monday, January 18, 2010 Hands On Atlanta and the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation invited the community to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King through service and education. Men, women, and children of all ages spent their day off in service during the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, cleaning, mulching, cutting vines, planting flowers, installing hardscapes, and removing debris.

The Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts & Peace Garden thanks Hands on Atlanta, their sponsors, and all of the beautiful volunteers for their hearts and hands!

"If you want to be important - wonderful. If you want to be recognized - wonderful. If you want to be great - wonderful. But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. That's a new definition of greatness…

You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. And you can be a servant."

Excerpted from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech. “The Drum Major
Instinct” on February 4, 1968
